Democracy

We believe civic participation is vital to transforming our schools and neighborhoods.

We believe a strong democracy requires everyone’s participation.

The establishment and protection of voting rights was one of the pillars of the civil rights movement. We’re building on that legacy to increase Eastside electoral power to advance a progressive agenda that transforms our schools and neighborhoods.

Building a New Electorate

Unfortunately, low voter turnout and dismal engagement is a concern across the nation, and the Eastside is no different. Our neighborhoods have lost faith in our democracy. But in the fight for justice, we believe civic engagement is an important tool to move our local and state government in the right direction. That’s why we’re part of a statewide strategy to build a new electorate. We’re registering and empowering the next generation of voters. We target new and occasional voters to educate them on the ballot issues and contact them to increase voter turnout in our neighborhoods.
