In light of the urgent moment and the growing threats to justice, equity, and democracy, we have made the decision not to host our Adelante Awards this year. As we collectively face the rising tide of fascism and extremism, we believe our resources, energy, and time must be redirected to planning for the Eastside’s future, we are building regional and statewide power to build the world we know is possible.

Although we will miss having our traditional gala, we remember past events, and our hearts are filled with gratitude and hope for your continued generous support. We are excited to share that this year we will be hosting two intimate fundraising events designed to cultivate joy and build collective hope. Our 2025-2026 Special Events Sponsorship Packages will help us reach our goal of raising $225,000 and provide you access to the following events:

Sembrando Lideres will be a Fandango* and special community celebration in honor of our Executive Director Henry Perez, 20 years of service with InnerCity Struggle. 

His leadership and profound dedication to building homegrown leadership and community power in the Eastside of Los Angeles has had ripple effects across our city. From mobilizing voters to pass progressive measure to increase public dollars to winning landmark tenant protections in the City and County of Los Angeles his impact is undeniable. Join us for a lively festivity under the open LA sky at the historic Elysian Park, to soak in the rhythms of strumming jaranas, soulful requintos and heartfelt verses in the spirit of convivencia (coexistence).

*A Fandango originating from Veracruz, Mexico, is a community wide pachanga that celebrates life, dance and music. Traditionally a community gathers around food and refreshments, musicians play Son Jarocho music, and people dance zapateado atop a large wooden platform called a tarima.

State of the Eastside: In Spring 2026, InnerCity Struggle will publicly launch our new strategic plan with a lively celebration. Together we will inspire collective hope for our work ahead with a night of learning, a celebration of culture and a recommitment to movement building in the Eastside!  More details to come.
